POD services offer books in print for well known authors who would have to go through extensive legal hassels to reprint older books in their collection with regular publishing houses, but now they can republish their older works and have their books available without  the overhead cost of keeping a collection of ready to ship books in a warehouse, gathering mildew or rot.

There is also less overhead for bookstores, who can order a small quantity at a time, as their needs grow or fall off.  Look for big publishing houses to offer their services on the internet in the near future, as this market grows with the influx of new authors.  Some have already begun to test the market in associatiation with some of the present small time publishers who now use the web extensively.

Randomhouse Ventures are associated with Xlibris, a new publisher to offer its services to new and old authors.  This site will consentrate its efforts on this new publisher and its authors, giving reader and author reviews on the books being published.  A condensed list of the titles offered, will be available also.
